Abstract

Jerusalén es por sobre todo una anomalía urbana. La ocupación de la parte palestina es una aberración que atraviesa a la ciudad como una herida insondable. La matriz de poder y las relaciones biopolíticas de dominio y dependencia que se han generado desde 1967, hacen de Jerusalén un volcán siempre al borde del estallido. El sistema imperante es incompatible con las exigencias mínimas de un régimen democrático y de un espacio decente. En el mejor de los casos se trata de una “etnocracia” una democracia exclusiva para israelíes y ajena a la minoría palestina. Comprender la realidad jerosolimitana es imprescindible para conocer el trayecto y porvenir del conflicto árabe-israelí.

Jerusalem is, above all, an urban anomaly. The occupation of the Palestinian part is an aberration that cuts through the city like an unfathomable wound. The power matrix and the bio-political relations of dominance and dependency that have emerged since 1967 make Jerusalem a volcano always on the brink of eruption. The prevailing system is incompatible with the minimal requirements of a democratic regime and a decent space. In the best case, it's an “ethnocracy” - an exclusive democracy for Israelis, alienating the Palestinian minority. Understanding the reality of Jerusalem is essential to grasp the trajectory and future of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
